YOU ARE NOT ALONE
When the Past Won't Stay in the Past
You may have done the work. You may have talked through what happened, named it, even made peace with parts of it. And still, something lingers. A familiar tightness in your chest. A reaction that feels bigger than the moment. A memory that catches you off guard and pulls you somewhere you did not want to go.
You might be feeling:
-
Stuck in patterns you understand but cannot seem to change
-
Triggered by everyday situations in ways that surprise you
-
Disconnected from your body, your emotions, or the people you love
-
Reacting in your relationships in ways that feel bigger than the moment
-
Exhausted from carrying something for so long
-
Hopeful that healing is possible, but unsure where to begin
If any of this sounds familiar, you are not broken and you are not alone. Sometimes our nervous systems hold on to experiences in ways that talking alone cannot fully reach. EMDR offers a different kind of pathway, one that works with your brain's natural ability to heal.
A GENTLE INTRODUCTION
What Is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidence-based approach widely recognized as one of the most effective ways to support healing from trauma, anxiety, and difficult life experiences. When something painful happens, your brain sometimes stores the memory in a way that keeps it active, almost as if it is still happening. EMDR uses gentle, guided attention, often through eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, to help your brain reprocess that memory so it can settle into the past where it belongs.

OUR APPROACH
Trauma-Informed, Always at Your Pace
EMDR is one of several approaches we draw from in our trauma-informed practice, and we believe it works best when it is integrated thoughtfully into the larger picture of your care. We will not rush into reprocessing before you are ready. The early sessions are about getting to know you, understanding your story, and building the kind of trust and stability that makes deeper work possible.
Healing Den Counseling is led by Nadia Padurets, LMFT, LPCC, an EMDR-trained therapist with clinical training at UC Davis Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente. More than credentials, what matters most is that you feel met, understood, and supported throughout the process.
