It is your nervous system staying activated even when the immediate pressure has passed, scanning for what might go wrong and bracing for the next thing. Stress tends to ask "how do I get through this," while anxiety often asks "what if."

Both are signals from a nervous system that is working hard to protect you, and both can soften with the right kind of support. Therapy can help with either, or both at once.
