About Me
My family and I immigrated to the United States when I was a teenager. It was difficult for me to grasp the English language and to understand American cultural dynamics. I began working part-time to support my parents and later focusing on educational and professional goals while raising a family. It has always been important to me to be a part of American society, and I have always been appreciative of the opportunities America has provided me. My three important accomplishments have been becoming a United States citizen, earning a master's degree in psychology, and becoming a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. My licenses have allowed me to meet an important personal goal - helping others who seek guidance in addressing emotional pain and conflicts that stem from relational and personal struggles. I married my spouse in my early twenties and have raised four children. My marriage has had its ups and downs, but they've all contributed to me becoming closer to my partner and more connected to my children. A few habits that help me recharge and unwind include attending yoga classes, playing tennis, watching funny videos, and listening to music and podcasts.
My Experience
I had worked at a couples counseling practice for two years before starting my private practice. I have focused on couples, individuals, adolescents, and family therapy. Before that, I have provided professional support and counseling to numerous adults and families while completing top-of-the-line training at leading hospitals. I’ve worked as a trauma psychotherapist at the UC Davis Medical Center while volunteering at one of the Sacramento school districts. In addition, I had the great opportunity to help people with a wide range of life difficulties during my one year in the Post Master's Degree Program with Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. I am pleased to continue helping people with diverse backgrounds and life challenges in my private practice.
My Philosophy
Life can be difficult and overwhelming at times, but everyone, no matter where they are in life, needs Kindness, Love, & Serenity.
My approach to therapy encompasses a variety of evidence-based therapeutic strategies, where the client has an opportunity to express their feelings that have brought them to reach out for professional support. I encourage my clients to recognize and use their strengths to overcome issues, past unresolved trauma and move toward making positive changes in their life. I want to make sure that my clients feel safe in a warm, nonjudgmental environment. My clients are usually filled with positivity, encouragement, guidance, and occasionally humor to challenge themselves in the therapy process.
